| AERO-VISION DEVELOPS FASTER COMMUNICATIONS GATEWAY |
|
Hauppauge, NY, March 5, 2001-- Aero-Vision Technologies, Inc. announced the completion of their upgraded Communications Gateway for Internet access and other data services. The new version implements a common modular architecture, supporting multiple market segments including the commercial, residential MDU, and hotel industry, and provides wireless links at 10Mbps and higher. CPE3 provides quadrupled download and upload rates and is approximately half the size and weight of the previous CPE2 model.
The new CPE3 is configured with both standard and proprietary Aero-Vision software and hardware modules to support the specific needs of servers and end-user equipment in these market segments. CPE3 combines custom software drivers to operate multiple radio links and to simultaneously support multiple frequency channels. Aero-Vision can deploy conflict-free network segments on a needs basis tailored to each customer's site topology and networking requirements.
Operating on a highly stable operating system, this configurable common unit offers the commercial segment with remote systems administration and remote software configuration updates, drastically reducing support costs associated with providing robust service. The residential MDU model offers additional features such as a Smart Home Server. This home CPE configuration allows a bundle of advanced home user services for all computers in the user premises, including: Proxy Server, Firewall, and Wireless Roaming within the apartment, Internet based home appliance control, and Internet accessed home video monitoring. The hotel model is a customized interactive portal service which offers city guides, local advertising, entertainment and events. Billing systems are compatible with and integrate seamlessly into the end user's billing systems. The CPE provides an integrated laptop port, for the traveler wishing to use their own laptop for high speed access, and supports popular video formats including Real Video and Flash. The model offers provisions for adding e-commerce and transaction-based merchandise delivery services as our customer services evolve.
Aero-Vision announced that the new CPE3 would allow for large scale deployment due primarily to a dramatic decrease in maintenance and related logistics.
