| MicroNode |
The MicroNode is a multi-port, wireless
adaptive data communications device designed for the wireless environment. The unit
combines hardware and software features to enable seamless operation in a wireless network
topology. All functionality has been integrated into a single device, providing a high
degree of flexibility. Specific features include:
The MicroNode technology allows low power RF transmission to be used, so that the system can be safely deployed in electromagnetic-sensitive environments such as hospitals. The system is implemented with simple, low power antennas, one at each customer's location, rather than requiring the use of expensive radio towers. Aero-Vision commenced deployment of MicroNode technology in October, 1996, and has introduced a series of important technology upgrades since that time as part of an on-going Research and Development program. Frequency re-use is an important feature of the MicroNode technology. Because of the short distances connecting the various MicroNodes within a cell, the same frequency channel can be used many times over in different parts of the cell, providing a high degree of spectrum efficiency. This feature differentiates MicroNode from other wireless technologies, where all users share "broadcast" bandwidth. Features differentiating MicroNode from the other wireless systems include fully capable IP addressing for Internet applications, a high level of security intrinsic to the design, and the ability to provide coverage over significantly larger areas, both within buildings and external. The MicroNode system is an integrated solution to wireless high speed data distribution, essentially eliminating propagation problems and offering virtually unlimited bandwidth. |
